WHAT IS ALTERNATIVE BASEBALL?

BASEBALL IS JUST THE BEGINNING… NOT THE END GOAL…

Since 2016, Alternative Baseball® has inspired personal growth and development in teens and adults (ages 15 and up) with autism and other disabilities through the Authentic Baseball Experience™. Throughout the year, participants experience practices, games, and other events under traditional baseball rules with few adaptations (save for the ball). Alternative Baseball teaches independence and self-reliance through authentic competition in an environment where every athlete is empowered, inspired, and encouraged to give their best! Participants, through the exciting Alternative Baseball® experience, learn teamwork, sportsmanship, respect, accountability, responsibility, and resilience. These skills carry over for life off the baseball diamond! Those who actively participate in 70% or more of their local Alternative Baseball® program’s practices, games, and other events are eligible for premium Alternative Baseball® experiences* (where available). No prior playing experience is required to start your Alternative Baseball journey. ABO® has been an associated member of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) since 2023.
