PLAYING FOR COMMUNITY INTEGRATION

The Playing for Community Integration Tour is a groundbreaking event series that showcases the talents and abilities of baseball players with disabilities. This unique tour combines America’s Pastime, community engagement, and social inclusion to create unforgettable experiences for all involved. Community leaders from mayors, councilmen/councilwomen, commissioners, state representatives, musicians, television reality stars, policemen, firemen, media/press/news reporters, and even former professional athletes appear at these events: all to champion awareness and acceptance of societal integration and inspire personal growth and perceptual community change of people with disabilities! Alternative Baseball hosts periodic Community Celebrity Games to ‘Play for Community Integration’, starring two teams of Alternative Baseball athletes and local community members and dignitaries; baseball games unlike any other seen before!

In every game on the Tour, Alternative Baseball(R) athletes gain confidence in their abilities, experience teamwork in a professional setting, develop and challenge baseball and societal/communication skills alongside community leaders and former pros, and learn to advocate for themselves and others with disabilities. Community leaders witness the true capabilities of individuals with disabilities, gain new perspectives on inclusivity and accessibility, experience the joy of inclusive sports, and learn how to better support and integrate people with disabilities in their community through the hands-on experience of America’s Pastime! Recruitment of future athletes, coaches, and ‘managers’ for both local and prospective Alternative Baseball programs happens at each event!
